Women Shatter Glass Ceilings in Corporate India: A Decade of Progress
The number of women directors in Indian corporate companies has surged significantly over the past decade, with an even greater increase in Tamil Nadu. Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman remarked on this progress, highlighting government's efforts in women's empowerment through substantial budget allocations. Women are also making strides in startups, financial technology, and defense sectors.

The presence of women directors in Indian corporate companies has seen a remarkable increase over the past decade, noted Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, with Tamil Nadu experiencing an even more significant rise.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration has actively supported women's participation in various sectors. This commitment is evident from the growing budget allocations for women's empowerment schemes, Sitharaman stated at a recent event.
Women are not only rising in corporate ranks but also making their mark in startups and the financial technology landscape. Notably, 18 percent of India's 111 unicorns are led by women. Additionally, women's representation in the defense and national security sectors is on the rise, with new policies fostering gender-neutral recruitment.
