Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday criticized the Maharashtra government for its delayed response in assessing the crop damage caused by heavy rains in the Marathwada region.
He demanded immediate compensation for the farmers affected in the area, which includes Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Nanded, Dharashiv, and Parbhani. Thackeray made these remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting rain-hit agricultural fields at Ambadgaon in Badnapur tehsil, Jalna district.
According to initial assessments by authorities, the heavy downpours resulted in the loss of at least ten lives and damaged crops on nearly 11.67 lakh hectares of land across seven districts. Thackeray accused the state government of being indifferent to the farmers' plight and labeled it as "anti-farmer."
