Dr. Mark Chavez, among those charged in the ketamine overdose death of 'Friends' star Matthew Perry, has been barred from practicing medicine by a federal judge. Chavez, expressing remorse through his lawyer, accepted responsibility and cooperated with authorities.

Chavez appeared in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, facing a charge of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. He was released on $50,000 bond and agreed to surrender his medical license at a separate hearing. No plea was entered during the arraignment, but his lawyer confirmed Chavez's intention to plead guilty in a forthcoming proceeding.

Assistant U.S. Attorney spokesperson stated Chavez surrendered his passport and would refrain from medical practice as part of his bond conditions. The tragic death of Matthew Perry, attributed to acute effects of ketamine, highlighted the actor's struggle with substance abuse during his career.
