According to police reports, one girl slipped into deep water, prompting the other three students to jump in to rescue her. Tragically, all four girls drowned.

The victims, identified as Komal Rawat (13), Raveena Meena (15), Narmada Meena (12), and Jashoda Meena (12), were residents of Balod. They were pronounced dead by doctors at the hospital.
