Tim Burton Finds Mojo with 'Beetlejuice' Sequel Premiere at Venice

Director Tim Burton has rediscovered his passion for filmmaking while shooting a sequel to his 1988 comedy horror 'Beetlejuice.' Burton acknowledged on Wednesday that he had fallen out of love with the film industry in recent years but was re-energized while working on 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.'

The sequel, which opens this year's Venice Film Festival, reunites much of the original cast such as Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, while also introducing new faces like Jenna Ortega. Burton reconsidered revisiting his earlier work after the success of 'Wednesday' on Netflix, where Ortega rose to global fame.

'I'm not out to do like a big sequel for money or anything like that, I just wanted to make this for very personal reasons,' said Burton. The director revealed that working on the sequel brought back the playful energy he experienced during the original film.
