Lucknow-based storyteller Himanshu Bajpai is poised to unveil 'Dastan-E-Jaan-E-Aalam,' a narrative aimed at re-examining the life of Wajid Ali Shah, the final king of Awadh. The aim is to challenge entrenched colonial narratives and highlight the king's cultural and historical significance.

Bajpai, who has received accolades from Sahitya Akademi and praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, described the project as a culmination of years of research and dedication. He was inspired by the rich storytelling traditions of Lucknow, which often depict Wajid Ali Shah in a sympathetic light.

Scheduled for public premiere on August 24, Bajpai hopes the Dastan will correct long-standing misconceptions and celebrate the monarch's contributions to music, theatre, and the arts. Pragya Sharma, a frequent collaborator, will join him in this cultural and political endeavor.
