Authorities in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam have launched a probe into the alleged waving of a Pakistani flag during an Independence Day event at a private school. The matter came to light after the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) raised concerns, an official said on Wednesday.
The ABVP held a protest demanding stringent action against the school where the Pakistani flag was reportedly used in the event and submitted a memorandum to the district collector. The district collector, Rajesh Batham, informed PTI that the memorandum has been forwarded to the police for further investigation, and legal measures will be taken based on the inquiry's findings.
According to Satyam Dave, ABVP's Ratlam district convenor, activists blocked a road after a video of the event went viral. The school's director, Deepak Pant, explained that the children were performing a drama on the freedom struggle and the Partition, which involved the flags of both India and Pakistan. He insisted that the video was meant to be an educational activity and claimed to have the script for the performance.
