In Jharkhand, Wednesday witnessed mixed reactions to the Bharat Bandh called by several groups protesting against a Supreme Court ruling on SC-ST reservation. The strikes led to brief disruptions in vehicular movement, closed schools, and postponed exams.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren canceled his visit to Palamu due to the strike. The bandh was supported by 21 organizations, including the state's ruling alliance, comprising the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and Rashtriya Janata Dal, as well as Left parties.
Protesters blocked roads and asked shopkeepers to close their shops in various districts. Despite disruptions, the situation remained largely peaceful with no major incidents reported, according to police officials.
