Parts of Delhi experienced severe waterlogging after heavy rainfall on Tuesday, leading the BJP to criticize the AAP government and its agencies. The BJP accused them of transforming the city into a 'slum.'
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) did not immediately respond to these allegations. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva stated that the AAP government and its 60 MLAs had failed to tackle waterlogging issues, effectively turning the city into a slum cluster. He called for the identification of perennial waterlogging spots and the deployment of marshalls to keep people away during rains.
Sachdeva added that the management of waterlogging during the rainy season and the provision of clean drinking water would be major issues in the upcoming Assembly elections. He highlighted waterlogged areas such as Badarpur, ITO, Mundka, Chhatarpur, Sangam Vihar, Karkardooma, Vasant Kunj, and Najafgarh—where an autorickshaw driver narrowly avoided a fatal accident at the Minto Bridge due to waterlogging. The absence of government action has brought the city to a standstill, he claimed, accusing the Delhi government of blatant negligence and corruption.
