The residents of Southport, England, gathered on Sunday to mourn the loss of 9-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, one of three young girls killed during a dance class attack. The funeral service, held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, was attended by hundreds, with pink ribbons and balloons decorating the street outside in Alice's honor.
Among the mourners was Chief Constable Serena Kennedy, who relayed the grieving parents' plea against further violence. 'I am ashamed and so sorry that you had to consider this during the funeral planning of your beautiful daughter, Alice,' Kennedy stated, condemning the recent unrest and misinformation-driven riots.
Far-right activists had exploited false rumours about the attacker, leading to anti-immigrant demonstrations that turned violent. These disturbances have since calmed, with peaceful anti-racism protests taking place. Alice's parents, Sergio and Alexandra, shared emotional tributes, describing her as a 'perfect dream child' who loved animals and dance, moving through life with confidence and empathy.
