Bengaluru Engineer Honored as Technical Contributor of the Year at Wikimania 2024

A Bengaluru-based software engineer, Siddharth V P, was among the seven recipients of the prestigious 'Wikimedian of the Year' awards for 2024, recognizing significant contributions to Wikimedia projects. The annual awards were presented by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales during the Wikimania 2024 conference in Katowice, Poland.

Siddharth, honored with the title 'Technical Contributor of the Year', has been volunteering on Wikimedia projects for over a decade. His technical expertise and contributions to MediaWiki, including creating the 'Articles for Creation' interface, have been pivotal to the platform.

This recognition marks the second instance where a person from India has received this honor. In 2021, Jay Prakash was awarded for his technical support to Indic communities. Siddharth's work on scripts, bots, and gadgets continues to enhance the efficiency of Wikimedia projects, benefiting thousands of users worldwide.
