Northern Vietnam's industrial areas are grappling with severe disruptions after Typhoon Yagi caused catastrophic damage. Executives report that massive flooding and power outages have left factories shuttered for weeks, threatening global supply chains.
Haiphong and Quang Ninh, critical manufacturing zones, were particularly hard hit. Calvin Nguyen of WeDo Forwarding Co. revealed that products destined for the U.S. and Europe were obliterated by the storm. The company's warehouses in Haiphong are in ruins, with roofs blown off and severe flooding persisting.
Power cuts continue to cripple large parts of the north as state-owned EVN works to restore electricity. Multinationals like LG Electronics and Jinko Solar are scrambling to rebuild and restart operations, while Samsung's facilities in Thai Nguyen face potential flooding as more rain looms.
