Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday called on the State Planning Commission (SPC) to design comprehensive programs aimed at multi-sectoral development to enhance the livelihood prospects of the people.

He emphasized that his government is committed to further improving the socio-economic conditions of the populace and urged the SPC to meet lofty government goals through concrete action plans targeting education, health, nutrition, and livelihood.

Stalin stressed simultaneous progress across all sectors, not just economic prosperity, embracing social, industrial, and educational development. This aligns with the ideologies of social justice, equality, and state autonomy championed by the DMK.

Lauding initiatives like the 'Pudhumai Penn' scheme and the Tamil Nadu Breakfast scheme for their impact on education and attendance, Stalin reiterated the government's role in uplifting diverse societal segments while recognizing the SPC's guidance in governance.

The SPC meeting, attended by Finance Minister Thangam Tennarasu and Chief Secretary Shivdas Meena, also featured a documentary on Karunanidhi, commemorating his role in establishing the Commission in 1971.
