Marvel's raunchy and violent 'Deadpool & Wolverine' set box office records over the weekend, raking in $205 million in U.S. and Canadian ticket sales, distributor Walt Disney announced on Sunday.
The impressive returns eclipsed the previous record for an R-rated film, and also outperformed the $154.2 million earned by Disney's animated Pixar movie 'Inside Out 2' during its June debut.
This achievement marks the biggest domestic opening of the year, solidifying 'Deadpool & Wolverine' as a major hit in the superhero film genre.
