Shree Jagannath Temple Opens Ratna Bhandar Inner Chamber Again for Temporary Treasury Transfer

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration will open the inner chamber of the Ratna Bhandar from 9:51 am to 12:15 pm on Thursday for transferring ornaments to a temporary treasury. This decision follows a meeting of key officials including SJTA Chief Arabinda Padhee and Justice Biswanth Rath.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) announced plans to reopen the inner chamber of the Ratna Bhandar on Thursday between 9:51 am and 12:15 pm. The operation aims to transfer ornaments to a temporary treasury set up within the shrine complex. The decision emerged from a meeting led by SJTA chief administrator Arabinda Padhee and Justice Biswanth Rath, chairman of the supervisory committee appointed by the state government.

Key attendees included the Puri collector and other relevant officials. The Ratna Bhandar was last opened on Sunday, following a 46-year interval, to conduct an inventory of valuables and structural repairs. Justice Rath indicated that relocating the chests entirely was impractical due to labor demands. Therefore, valuables and ornaments will be moved to a newly established temporary treasury within the temple grounds.

Equipped with CCTV cameras, fire safety measures, and other critical precautions, this temporary facility aims to secure the transferred items efficiently.
