Guilherme Peixoto, a Portuguese priest, has found a unique way to spread his message of hope—through electronic dance music. His journey from a tiny village parish to some of the world's best nightclubs is nothing short of extraordinary.
On a recent Friday evening, hundreds of revelers, both young and old, gathered in Laundos to witness Peixoto, dressed in his black clergy shirt and clerical collar, take control of the DJ booth. Among his setlist were excerpts from Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I Have a Dream' speech and a fusion of religious songs with techno beats.
Peixoto's summer music festival, 'Ar de Rock,' has become a highlight for many. The 49-year-old priest, who has over 900,000 Instagram followers, also performs at prestigious clubs like Hi Ibiza and has concerts scheduled across Europe. His passion for music began in seminary and grew during a military chaplaincy in Afghanistan. Despite his global fame, Peixoto remains committed to his faith, seamlessly balancing his roles as a priest and DJ.
