BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy expressed disappointment over not being able to take his oath in Bhojpuri during a linguistically diverse oath-taking ceremony in the Lok Sabha. The Lok Sabha showcased a rich linguistic mosaic on Monday as newly elected MPs took their oaths in various languages, including English, Hindi, Sanskrit, and several regional tongues. However, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy from Saran, Bihar, lamented that he could not swear in Bhojpuri.

Although the ceremony saw oaths in languages such as Bengali, Assamese, Odia, and Dogri, Bhojpuri remains absent from the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, leaving Rudy unable to use his mother tongue.

Defeating RJD candidate Rohini Acharya, Rudy emphasized the beauty and pride of taking oaths in one's native language, while addressing the Chair, currently held by Radha Mohan Singh, BJP MP from Purvi Champaran.

Despite his wish, Rudy proceeded to read his oath in Hindi, contributing to the day's display of India's linguistic diversity.
