The White Lotus Season 3 recent updates and everything we know so far

The White Lotus, HBO Max's black comedy-drama, is returning for its third season. The series, created by Mike White, follows the guests and employees at the fictional White Lotus resort chain and explores their psychosocial dysfunctions. The first season of the show was developed during the early days of the pandemic when HBO needed content that could be produced in a Covid-friendly manner and one location. White's idea of setting the show in a posh hotel proved to be a success, and the show has become a hit with audiences.

One of the main cast members from the first season, Connie Britton, will not be returning for the third season. Britton played the high-powered CFO, Nicole Mossbacher, and there were rumors that she would be playing the sister of Laura Dern's character in The White Lotus Season 3. However, plans have changed, and Britton's scheduling conflicts have made it impossible for her to return. It's unclear how this will affect the possible appearance of Dern's character, Abby.

"[Britton] would love to do another season of 'The White Lotus' at some point, but she is not participating in the upcoming season," a representative for the actress told TVLine.

Jennifer Coolidge, who played Tanya in both the first and second seasons, seemed like a safe bet for the third season. However, the season two finale marked the end of Tanya's character, which was a disappointment for fans.

In the finale of Season 2, Harper admits to Ethan that Cameron kissed her, which leads to Ethan attacking Cameron. Daphne advises Harper to do whatever makes him feel better and invites Ethan to join her on a walk to a nearby island. They have sex, reigniting the passion in their marriage. Albie convinces Dominic to wire €50,000 to Lucia to save her from Alessio, but Lucia leaves Albie and celebrates her successful scam with Mia and Alessio. Valentina restores Rocco to reception and hires Mia as the resort’s new piano player, angering Giuseppe. Portia wakes up to find her phone missing and calls Tanya, suspecting Greg of hiring Quentin and his associates to kill her. Panicking, Tanya kills them and attempts to escape, but slips and drowns. Portia confronts Jack about his relationship with Quentin, and he drops her off near the airport. Albie and Portia reunite there.

Creator Mike White has hinted that The White Lotus Season 3 will be set in Asia and will focus on death and Eastern religion and spirituality. This will follow the first season's focus on money and the second season's focus on sex. The show's team is heading to Thailand to shoot the upcoming season at one of the Four Seasons properties in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, or the Golden Triangle.
