Disney is moving forward with the franchises such as "Zootopia," "Frozen," and "Toy Story," all of which have generated billions of dollars in box office revenue. The latest addition to their animated films is "Raya and the Last Dragon," which has garnered an enormous amount of attention worldwide. The film has received numerous nominations for prestigious awards, including Best Animated Feature Film at the 2022 Oscars and the 79th Golden Globe Awards. Additionally, "Raya and the Last Dragon" leads the 49th Annie Awards with ten nominations, making fans eagerly anticipate the release of "Raya and the Last Dragon 2."

The film's success is undeniable, having grossed $102 million globally, not including the revenue generated from Disney+ Premier Access. This places "Raya and the Last Dragon" as the seventh highest-grossing film of 2021. With such a positive reception, there is a possibility that Disney may greenlight a sequel. However, no official announcement has been made by the studio.

When asked by Decider about the possibility of a sequel or spin-off film, Kelly Marie Tran expressed interest in reprising her role as Raya. "I would absolutely be interested. I love this world and this character, and I have not heard a thing, so I can't tell you. Yeah, I really don't know," she stated. Although there is no confirmation from Disney, the possibility of "Raya and the Last Dragon 2" remains high.

One question that remains is whether Disney will move forward with a sequel. The storyline of the first film had a satisfactory ending, so if a sequel were to happen, it would likely follow Raya and her team as they explore a new mystical land. Disney typically takes five to six years to release a sequel after the original film's release. If "Raya and the Last Dragon 2" is indeed in the works, we can expect to see it by 2026 or 2027.

Despite the strong possibility of a sequel, it is impossible to predict whether Disney will greenlight "Raya and the Last Dragon 2." The chances are currently 50-50, so fans will have to stay tuned for further updates on this highly anticipated animated film. In the meantime, we can continue to enjoy the first installment of "Raya and the Last Dragon" and eagerly await any news of a sequel.
