Kota's district administration has unveiled new guidelines for hostels and coaching centers under the Kota Cares Campaign. Officials announced these changes on Tuesday, aiming to cut living costs for students arriving to prepare for competitive exams.

The guidelines eliminate security and caution money at all 4,000 hostels in the city. Following consultations with stakeholders, District Collector Dr. Ravindra Goswami stated that hostels can charge a maintenance fee of Rs 2,000. Facilities such as anti-suicide ceiling fans and mandatory gatekeeper training for hostel staff are also included.

Additionally, students will enjoy free entry to local attractions like the Chambal Riverfront. With a steep decline in student arrivals impacting revenues, the initiative seeks to provide better student care and improved standards to revive the sector.
