The Delhi government's Department of Education (DoE) has announced the initiation of the nursery, KG, and Class 1 admission process in the city's private schools for the 2025-26 session, starting November 28.
According to the circular, registration forms must be submitted by December 20, with the first general-category admission lists to be published on January 17, 2025. The department mandates a 25% seat reservation for students from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and children with disabilities. Separate lists will be created for these groups.
The guidelines stipulate that the minimum age for admission is three years for nursery, four years for KG, and five years for Class 1 as of March 31, 2025. The circular allows for a 30-day age relaxation at the discretion of the school head. Schools are required to publicly present their admission criteria by November 25, ensuring adherence to departmental guidelines. A computerised draw will resolve application ties, and parents aren't obliged to purchase prospectuses with their admissions forms.
