Chancellor U-Turn: Ajit Ranade Reinstated at Gokhale Institute
Sanjeev Sanyal, the new chancellor of Gokhale Institute, has reversed the removal of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ajit Ranade. The previous chancellor, Bibek Debroy, had removed Ranade citing regulatory non-conformity. After a court stay and Debroy's resignation, Sanyal reinstated Ranade, offering him a chance to present his case.

Sanjeev Sanyal, the newly-appointed chancellor of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, has revoked the decision to remove Dr. Ajit Ranade from his post as vice-chancellor.
Ranade's removal in September by the former chancellor, Bibek Debroy, was contested in court, with the Bombay High Court issuing a stay order. Debroy resigned shortly after the court's intervention, leaving the decision to Sanyal.
In a statement, Sanyal announced his intention to allow Ranade an opportunity to present his defense. The reversal has been communicated to the high court, while Ranade expressed eagerness to resume his duties with the institute.
