The Supreme Court has extended the deadline by two weeks for the submission of a report on exam reforms by a Centre-appointed expert panel. The panel, comprising seven members, is tasked with reviewing the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) in conducting the NEET-UG examination.
Led by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan, the panel's remit includes recommending reforms to ensure transparency and prevent malpractice in the NEET-UG, which facilitates admissions to undergraduate medical programs. The extension follows Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's request, indicating the report is near completion.
The expert panel's expanded scope will address examination security, administration, and will propose technological enhancements alongside suggesting mental health support for students. This move follows several identified lapses in previous exam conduct, including security breaches and errors in question paper distribution.
