The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has proposed that stock exchanges, depositories, and clearing corporations craft their own data-sharing policies. This move aims to foster data democratisation while ensuring the protection of sensitive information.

A consultation paper released on Tuesday details that such policies should differentiate data intended for public release from that meant for internal use. Public data will include aggregate and analyzed information devoid of personal identifiers.

The proposals, open for public comment until October 29, emphasize that data shared commercially will not adhere to these guidelines. The initiative underscores Sebi's commitment to balancing data accessibility and privacy.
