Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday conferred degrees upon 333 students at the first convocation of Sardar Patel University (SPU), Mandi. The Governor also awarded medals to 36 meritorious students, including 12 gold medalists, highlighting the institution's commendable progress in a short period.
In his address, Shukla emphasized that the convocation marked a pivotal moment in students' lives, encouraging them to continue their educational pursuits. He noted the university's phased implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and commended its newly established Indian Knowledge Tradition Cell and various academic committees as vital steps towards achieving the university's vision.
Shukla also touched upon India's youthful demographic and its potential for economic growth. He projected that by 2030, India could be the third-largest economy, aiming for developed-nation status by 2047. Guest of Honour and Director of IIT Mandi, Rajiv Ahuja, stressed the importance of research and multidisciplinary approaches, advocating for the integration of AI and drone technology in sectors such as agritech and food processing to push India to global leadership.
