Himachal Pradesh Education Overhaul: Boarding School in Spiti Soon

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced a significant educational initiative, ensuring that no child in the state is deprived of education. A new boarding school is set to be introduced soon in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti.

During a session in the state assembly, Sukhu stated that the government is embarking on a series of reforms aimed at improving the quality of education, as the state has recently slipped to 18th position in national rankings. He also mentioned the possibility of shifting students to district headquarters and covering their expenses.

In response to a motion by Anuradha Rana regarding the merger of schools with fewer students, Education Minister Rohit Thakur highlighted the nationwide trend of consolidating schools, citing substantial declines in enrollment numbers. Despite harsh geographic conditions, the government plans to sympathetically consider any future mergers to optimize resources.
