A civil society group, led by former chief election commissioner S Y Quraishi, has appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to investigate the suspension of a nursery student at a private school in Amroha for allegedly bringing non-vegetarian food in his tiffin.

The Alliance for Economic and Educational Development of the Underprivileged (AEEDU) insists that such actions contradict the national push toward educational accessibility for underprivileged communities, regardless of religious and linguistic backgrounds.

The AEEDU leadership, including former Union minister K Rahman Khan and former Delhi lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung, signed the letter, urging corrective action. A local committee has been formed to probe the case, with a report expected within three days.
