Two Border Security Force (BSF) camps in Chhattisgarh's Naxalite-affected Kanker district have been converted into a school and a hostel for children after being vacated by the paramilitary force. This shift comes as a strategic move to bolster anti-Naxal operations and facilitate community development.

The BSF vacated the camps, also known as company operating bases, in Bondanar and Kadhai Khodra villages, relocating to more interior locations to curb Left Wing Extremism. Officials stated that the Bondanar COB moved to Padar village in Rowghat area, while the Kadhai Khodra base was relocated to nearby forests in Narayanpur district.

Established in 2010 and 2015 respectively, the Bondanar and Kadhai Khodra camps have now been repurposed. The Kadhai Khodra camp now serves as a government high school with 33 students, while the Bondanar facility has become a pre-matric hostel housing 75 boys. These facilities provide essential amenities including playgrounds, potable drinking water, and gender-specific washrooms, helping integrate local tribal children with security personnel and advancing education in the region.
