The Delhi government has announced a new initiative to identify and nurture 'gifted children,' including those who are specially-abled, studying in its schools. The initiative, known as 'Project Abhishikt,' aims to hone these children's potential through a specialized curriculum, officials revealed on Wednesday.

As part of the project, students will undergo two intelligence tests: a Culture Fair Intelligence Test (CFIT) led by schoolteachers and an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test conducted by experts. Selected students will then follow a specialized NCERT-based curriculum covering various subjects, such as English, Hindi, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Fine Arts.

To support the identification process, the Delhi government has initiated a five-day training programme for 104 teachers. These teachers are being trained at a government school in Kalkaji. The project coordinator, Stuti Gaur, mentioned that around 200 students from 15 schools are expected to be selected. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and the Directorate of Education (DoE) will hold orientation sessions for parents to keep them informed and engaged in the project.
