The RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has voiced its support for the ideologically opposed Progressive Students Forum (PSF-TISS) after the latter was banned by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), citing the need for educational institutions to uphold free speech and democratic values.

The ABVP labeled the ban as "abrupt and irrational," warning that it could cause significant unrest among student bodies and affect the integrity of future student council elections, deemed essential for maintaining democratic processes on campus.

The TISS, under the Union Ministry of Education, banned the PSF on August 19, accusing the group of hindering the institute's functions and defaming it. The institute warned that any further unauthorized activities by the PSF would result in immediate intervention and consequences.
