NCP (SP) Chief Sharad Pawar has expressed support for candidates in Pune protesting the scheduling of the MPSC preliminary exam on August 25. He warned that he would join the protest if the government does not clarify its stand.

Numerous job-seekers, preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) preliminary exam, have been agitating since Tuesday night. They demand a different date as the current one overlaps with a banking exam on the same day.

NCP (SP) legislator Rohit Pawar has also joined the protest, sitting alongside the candidates. The protesters also demand that the selection for 258 agricultural department posts be conducted through the MPSC exam.

Sharad Pawar said, "It is the responsibility of the state government to consider the interests of students taking the MPSC exam. However, it appears the government is not taking it seriously. By tomorrow, if the government does not clarify its stand, I will join the agitation to ensure justice for the candidates."

An MPSC aspirant mentioned that they seek to have 258 posts from the agriculture department included under the MPSC exam. They argue that the overlap with the Indian Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) exam for clerical positions makes it impossible for students to attend both exams in one day, prompting the demand for a postponement.
