The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially filed its first charge sheet in the NEET UG examination paper leak case, naming 13 individuals as prime accused, officials reported on Thursday.

The charge sheet details the roles these accused individuals allegedly played in the paper leak and other related irregularities, according to the officials. The CBI's investigation remains ongoing, they added.

The ongoing probe covers six separate FIRs, including one from Bihar specifically linked to the paper leak. Other FIRs from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra pertain to candidate impersonation and various cheating methods. The agency's FIR, based on a reference from the Union Education Ministry, calls for a comprehensive examination of the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024.

The NEET-UG, overseen by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is a crucial exam for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and related courses in both government and private institutions. Conducted on May 5, this year's exam took place at 4,750 centers across 571 cities, including 14 international locations, with over 23 lakh candidates participating.
