Leader of Opposition in the assembly, Vijender Gupta, has accused the Delhi government of concealing financial irregularities in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) by failing to prepare its balance sheets. Gupta, citing a report from the Delhi chief secretary, claimed the AAP government is attempting to dodge scrutiny by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
Gupta refuted allegations from AAP ministers that the DJB has been denied funds, noting that budgetary allocations have not been fully utilized despite the ongoing issues in water supply and sewerage affecting residents.
According to the report, the DJB, responsible for the city's water supply and sewerage system, has acknowledged its inability to repay loans exceeding Rs 73,000 crore, putting the spotlight on the financial management within the board.
