Tanya Soni, one of three UPSC aspirants who tragically lost their lives due to flooding in a Delhi coaching center's basement, had dreamt of becoming a civil servant since childhood.

Her father, Vijay Kumar, revealed that Tanya, a graduate in political science, had been preparing for the UPSC exams for a month. The family was informed of her death while traveling to Lucknow and immediately flew to Delhi upon receiving the news.

Tanya's body has been retrieved and the family is now heading to Bihar for her last rites. Vijay Kumar, a Deputy General Manager at Singareni Collieries Company Ltd, has been in Telangana for the past 25 years. Officials, including Telangana Chief Minister and Union Minister, have expressed their condolences.
