A special court in Patna on Wednesday ordered that Pankaj Kumar, the primary suspect in the NEET-UG paper leak case, be remanded to CBI custody for 14 days, officials reported.

During his custody, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will interrogate Kumar regarding his alleged involvement, connections with other gang members, monetary transactions, and local contacts involved in the theft, officials stated.

Kumar's purported accomplice, Raju Singh, is already in CBI custody for a 10-day period, until July 25. Kumar, a civil engineer from the National Institute of Technology in Jamshedpur, was arrested for allegedly stealing the NEET-UG paper in Hazaribagh. The CBI has also detained various other individuals connected to this case, leading to a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024.
