The CBI has apprehended Aman Singh, identified as an alleged co-conspirator in the NEET-UG paper leak case, from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, sources revealed on Wednesday.
This action follows the agency's investigation into a suspected Jharkhand-based syndicate implicated in the leak, leading to Singh's capture, officials reported.
Previously, the CBI had also detained the principal and vice principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, in addition to two individuals who purportedly offered secure locations for NEET candidates, from which burnt question papers were later found by Bihar Police, sources indicated.
The CBI has so far filed six First Information Reports (FIRs) in this matter. One FIR from Bihar involves the paper leak, while others from Gujarat and Rajasthan pertain to impersonating candidates and cheating cases.
Additionally, the agency's own FIR, based on a reference from the Union Education Ministry, calls for a thorough investigation into alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination processes.
The NEET-UG, orchestrated by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both governmental and private institutions, was held on May 5 across 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 international locations, attracting more than 23 lakh candidates.
