Controversy Erupts Over CAG Report on DTC Expenditure

The recent CAG report on the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has sparked allegations of financial mismanagement under the AAP government, according to BJP leaders in the Delhi Assembly. They claim operational costs have soared, with the number of buses declining. Meanwhile, financial liabilities continue to increase, leaving unresolved dues from private operators.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report concerning the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has ignited a political debate in the Delhi Assembly. Allegations of mismanagement and corruption during the Aam Aadmi Party's tenure have taken center stage, with BJP leaders pointing fingers at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's administration.

During Monday's session, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and BJP MLA Harish Khurana criticized the AAP government for failing to curb rising operational costs and declining service levels. The operational cost of DTC buses reportedly increased by more than double, leaving poor commuters struggling. In contrast, Khurana highlighted that the fleet's size has decreased over the years, despite a growing population in the city.

The report unveiled by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta revealed that financial liabilities for DTC have surged significantly. As opposition members requested more time to study the report, Chief Minister Kejriwal proposed forming committees to address the fiscal issues outlined. The committees' formation was approved before adjourning the assembly session until the following day.
