Amidst strengthening diplomatic relations, India's Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu confirmed that bilateral discussions are underway to resume direct flights between India and China. These flights, a crucial aspect of connectivity, were suspended in 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister Naidu mentioned that both nations tentatively agreed to restart the air services as a part of initiatives to improve bilateral ties, with a formal announcement expected after the ongoing negotiations conclude.
The discussions are viewed as part of broader efforts to 'stabilize and rebuild' connections between the countries. As of early 2020, major airlines like IndiGo and Air India had suspended routes from major Indian cities to Chinese counterparts.
