Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a series of initiatives designed to propel the state towards inclusive growth, during a press interaction. Highlighting 2024 as a pivotal year for development, Sarma presented plans emphasizing industrial growth and social welfare.
The government intends to host the 'Advantage Assam' conclave, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi slated to inaugurate. This event aims to foster an innovation-friendly environment and remove bureaucratic barriers for investors. Extensive efforts in manufacturing, IT, renewable energy, and tourism are poised to draw investments, promoting economic well-being and job creation.
Other measures include the Tata semiconductor facility and government support for start-ups. Additionally, 39 co-districts were created to streamline administration, while significant advancements in women empowerment and crime reduction were reported. The state government also provided flood relief and aims to eradicate child marriage by 2026.
