According to a joint report by PayNearby and the Grameen Foundation for Social Impact, Women Business Correspondents (BCs) are significantly outperforming male agents in engaging female customers. The data revealed that transactions handled by women BCs are valued 66% higher than those managed by male counterparts.
Furthermore, women BCs earn 24.4% more when dealing with female clients, indicating a tendency for female customers to feel more at ease with agents of the same gender during high-value transactions. However, the report also sheds light on challenges, noting that 60% of female BCs face difficulties balancing professional and personal commitments.
The report underscores the importance of systemic support for women BCs, highlighting the value they place on flexible work hours and professional development opportunities. While 45% of women BCs prefer flexible schedules compared to 38% of men, nearly half of them favor workshops and seminars to remain industry-relevant.
