Metro Railways Kolkata has announced that services on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade stretch will undergo rescheduling and revision starting from November 11. This change aims to facilitate ongoing construction work in the tunnel between Esplanade and Sealdah.
According to a statement from Metro Railways, services between Howrah Maidan and Esplanade will see adjustments, effective from November 11 and continuing until further notice. The revisions include a redirection of the West-bound rake between Howrah Maidan and Mahakaran stations during working hours.
Despite the changes, services in the East-bound tunnel will operate as usual during weekdays, running from 6:55 am to 10 pm, and on Sundays from 2:15 pm to 9:50 pm. Following a leakage incident at Bowbazar, which marked the fourth such case since 2019, efforts are underway to strengthen the tunnel from Bowbazar to Esplanade. Metro Railway General Manager P Uday Kumar Reddy recently inspected the site, ensuring that measures are in place to ready the tunnel for the Howrah Maidan-Salt Lake Sector V stretch.
