India Earns Billions from Government Scrap Sales: A Lesson in Efficiency and Sustainability

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for amassing Rs 2,364 crore in three years through selling scrap from various government offices, showcasing notable efficiency and sustainability. This initiative aligns with India's socio-economic goals and underlines economic prudence and cleanliness.
Responding to Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh's social media post, PM Modi highlighted the campaign's success in directing focus on efficient management and proactive action, leading to significant economic and environmental benefits. The Special Campaign 4.0 not only boosted the government's revenues but also enhanced cleanliness in the departments.
On November 7, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that DPIIT's physical file eradication and scrapped material disposal freed 15,847 square feet, earning Rs 16,39,452. This campaign also addressed pending tasks, conducting 300 cleanliness drives, and adopting best practices, thus ensuring a better workplace environment.
