Delhi's Flavorful Future: Boosting Independent Food Outlets

The Delhi government plans to enhance independent food outlets by offering affordable, modern infrastructure and easing regulations. The Delhi government is set to transform the food outlet sector with the introduction of affordable and modern infrastructure facilities. These developments will streamline licensing and expand employment opportunities, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

Based on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's vision, the initiative, facilitated by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), aims to foster growth in local food outlets, cloud kitchens, and delivery services. Expected to take effect within the next 15 days, the new policy coincides with the Diwali festival and promises to alleviate regulatory challenges while encouraging sustainable business practices.

Delhi Industries Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj highlighted the policy's comprehensive framework designed for non-dine-in food outlets, which currently exceed 20,000 in the capital. The initiative introduces a single-window portal for streamlined licensing, creating a conducive environment for independent enterprises. Facilities like shared kitchens and food labs will support small businesses, with programs from Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University enhancing entrepreneurial skills.
