Indian airlines grappled with alarm as over 25 domestic and international flights were threatened with bomb alerts on Friday, sources revealed.

An IndiGo spokesperson disclosed that seven of its flights, including 6E 87 from Kozhikode to Dammam, faced security-related threats.

Reports indicate approximately seven flights each from IndiGo, Vistara, and SpiceJet, along with six Air India flights, received these alerts. Notably, flights like IndiGo's 6E 2099 from Udaipur to Delhi underwent emergency protocols.

A stringent response entailed redirecting the Udaipur-Delhi flight to an isolation bay, following standard procedures to ensure passenger safety, as confirmed by the airline's statement.

Within twelve days, bomb threats have plagued over 275 flights of Indian carriers, predominantly circulated via social media platforms.

In response, the government has mobilized efforts, urging social media giants Meta and X to aid in tracking down the culprits behind these hoax threats, critically affecting airline operations.
