A viral video purportedly showing Rohingya Muslims illegally entering India was debunked by PTI Fact Check. The clip, involving minor boys, mostly in skullcaps, disembarking a truck in Kolhapur, sparked false claims on social media platforms.
Investigations revealed the video depicted 63 children, traveling from Bihar and West Bengal to Kolhapur, not Rohingya Muslims. These children were returning to their madrasa in Azra, Kolhapur, after summer holidays, as confirmed by local police.
The social media narrative, wrongly alleging a communal threat, overlooked facts verified by police and media outlets. No Rohingya migrants were involved; all were madrasa students from nearby states, countering the false alarm raised in the social discourse.
