The Tata group of airlines, including Air India, Air India Express, and Vistara, conducted in-flight announcements on Thursday in commemoration of Tata Sons's Chairman Emeritus, Ratan Tata. Insider sources confirmed the homage was broadcast across all Tata Group flights.

Ratan Tata, 86, passed away on Wednesday night at a Mumbai hospital. In an internal memo to Air India employees, Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India, expressed deep sorrow over his passing. He noted Mr. Tata's vast contributions to Indian aviation and offered condolences on behalf of past and present employees to the Tata family.

Passengers on Air India flights documented the announcements and posted videos on social media, which prompted a flood of tributes from leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and numerous state Chief Ministers.

In honor of Ratan Tata, Gujarat and Maharashtra governments declared a day of mourning, with flags set at half-mast and no state-sponsored entertainment events. The corporate titan, who led Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012, was esteemed for his leadership and received the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
