Israeli Air Strikes Disrupt Refugee Escapes at Lebanon-Syria Border
Israeli air strikes have rendered Lebanon's main border crossing into Syria inoperative, obstructing refugees' attempts to flee. Over 430,000 people have crossed since Israel's campaign began, but unannounced strikes hinder their paths to safety. The situation is alarming, says Rula Amin from UNHCR.

In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict, Israeli air strikes have incapacitated Lebanon's main border crossing to Syria, according to the UN refugee agency. This has complicated efforts for refugees attempting to reach the relative safety of Syria.
The UNHCR spokesperson Rula Amin, based in Amman, reported that the strike landed a mere 500 metres from the main crossing, without prior warning. This unforeseen attack has made the passage nearly impossible for many.
Approximately 430,000 individuals have already managed to cross into Syria since the onset of Israel's campaign, but ongoing attacks on these critical routes cast a long shadow over their future safety and security.
