The Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) has entered into a significant partnership with Sampa Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (SAMPA) by signing a term sheet to finance SAMPA’s inaugural captive solar power plant investment. This initiative is being facilitated under Türkiye’s Renewable Energy Support Mechanism (YEKDEM).

Commitment to Sustainable Development

This strategic collaboration highlights ICD's dedication to promoting private sector development among its member countries. The ICD is poised to support Türkiye in achieving its energy objectives while actively enhancing the renewable energy landscape across its member nations. These efforts align with the broader goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming for a greener and more sustainable future.

Details of the Solar Power Project

Through this partnership, SAMPA plans to construct a 21 MW captive solar power plant, which is expected to yield several benefits, including:

Reduced Energy Costs: By harnessing solar energy, SAMPA will decrease its reliance on conventional energy sources, leading to significant cost savings.

Lower CO2 Emissions: The project will contribute to Türkiye's efforts to mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Support for Net-Zero Targets: This initiative will play a crucial role in helping Türkiye work towards its net-zero emissions targets.

Promoting Gender Equality

In addition to its environmental benefits, SAMPA is committed to promoting gender equality within the traditionally male-dominated manufacturing sector. The company aims to enhance equal opportunity policies and increase women’s representation in its factories, fostering a more inclusive workplace.

This partnership not only exemplifies a step towards sustainable energy solutions but also signifies a commitment to social responsibility and gender equality in the workforce.
