Luxury Travel and Lavish Gifting: Indian Affluents Brace for Festive Season

As the festive season approaches, affluent Indian adults are looking forward to indulging in leisure travel and lavish holiday gifting, a recent survey by Amex Trendex India reveals. The survey indicates that 97% of high-income Indians, those earning USD 50,000 or more annually, are planning to travel during the festive period.
Among these travelers, 33% have already secured their holiday bookings. Leisure tops the list of travel motivations, with 63% of respondents citing it as their primary reason, while 54% express a desire to explore new places, and 27% aim to reunite with family and friends.
Despite the focus on luxury, cost management remains important, as 73% of respondents utilize travel credit cards, airline miles, or loyalty points to mitigate expenses. Meanwhile, domestic travel is favored by 88% of travelers, although 61% are considering international trips. Holiday gifting is also a priority, with 98% planning purchases, underscoring a focus on personalized and experiential gifts.
