Historic Rs 70 Crore MoU Enhances Himachal's Road Infrastructure

An MoU worth Rs 70 crore has been signed between Himachal Pradesh's PWD and SJVN Ltd to widen roads. PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh emphasized the significance for urban and rural development. Expansion efforts could elevate some roads to national highway status, enhancing strategic connectivity, especially near the China border.

A memorandum of understanding valued at approximately Rs 70 crore was inked on Monday between the state Public Works Department (PWD) and SJVN Ltd. The focus is on the enhancement of various road projects in Himachal Pradesh.

While presiding over the signing ceremony, PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh highlighted the MoU's role in the widening of roads such as Sunni-Luhri and Shimla-Mandi. He stressed the significance of this development in bolstering road infrastructure across both rural and urban locales.

Additionally, Minister Singh urged the Central government to upgrade several important roads to national highway status, citing strategic importance, particularly those close to the China border.
